tops are tops

I have been away in the land of sewing, sewing like a crazy but delightfully happy person for the markets.  I made a top or two because I was inspired and then tried to do some skirts but for some reason they resisted and the tops kept beckoning and delighting me so I turned towards them and went top mad, it was really fun. I love having the freedom to change what I do on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, whilst maintaining orders etc for the favourites. Here are are a few tops I made for the markets (which were on Saturday, they went really well, yay). So here is the top (and one dress) collection (otherwise known as the bathroom collection, for obvious reasons, I really need to work out the perfect place for self timer pics).

All fabrics and materials used are secondhand, upcycled or salvaged.

A lot more has been happening; an amazing transition town world cafe meeting, a ping pong, farewell, 30th, clothing swap party, yoga (ahhh), life changing massages, birthdays for two special little people and some very special friends from Melbourne arriving (it has been about 4 years between visits). Will have some photos soon, thought I would just touch base with the tops.

  1. Ooh you sexy thing! Gorgeous tops! Isn't it funny, because I am just not into tops, but much more into sewing skirts. Are you going to open a madeit/etsy shop soon? How much do they sell for? I'm wanting one!

Can't wait to also read all your little updates soon.

    1. Yeah, i was all about the skirt as well, but these tops just forced their way in, and it was totally great. Hmm ot sure about madeit/etsy yet, I feel like things get lost in there a bit. But am trying to work something out with Bell from Wabi Sabi, may set up an online store. Or might just do the madeit/etsy thing, will see. Getting a few orders just online though, which is cool. love you.

    2. People never really find you on etsy, they'll find you through other places (the markets, your blog, ws, etc.) and then you can direct them to your online spot, they locate you directly on etsy and there you have all of your 'shop' elements sorted out (payment, photo uploading, etc.).

I so wish I was able to make the tops I want. Yours are so delicious.

    1. oh shucks, thanks Em. The pattern I made up from the sheet dress that I made. The sheet dress was made one night after a frustrating day and came about by trying on, adding pleats, buttons etc to fit. Basically though, I kind of fitted in around the breasts, then came in around the waist and then out around the hips. The sleeves are cut from under the arm at an angle to just past the shoulder. I could draw it for you, the shape. Love that it accentuates the cleavage and then cleverly hides other areas. Thanks for the bangin body call, you are so lovely. xx
