squeezing it all in, whilst trying to enjoy the moment

This week seems to have been that unusual and seemingly unlikely combination of lasting for eons whilst speeding by so fast it has been hard to catch our breath. Fresh out of the flood and storms, we were delighted to have the pleasure of Poe's company for a few more days due to a log jam under the bridge near his school making it not safe for buses to cross. He went back to school at the showground in town for a half a day on Wednesday and back to school on Thursday. After school on Wednesday we were delighted to find little notes tucked around the place, in a fruitbowl, next to the tahini and in the spoon drawer, the joy on his face as we discovered each note and illustration, was just like a little radiating ball of delight and glee.

As the children pottered and played, Scott and I tried to get our heads around the crazy workload we have in the next four weeks, which is on top of our usual work schedule. When The Mid North won the dolphin award last year for Album of the Year, they also won a publicist for three months, totally great, yes. However with a publicist comes plans and direction and a release date and so on, so our 'homework' from Bianca (the publicist) is to make three filmclips and 10 promo shots in the next four weeks, yes four weeks, on top of planning for the O'Brother show, parenting, working, loving, cooking, living and all that other cool stuff. Hmmm, just a bit of juggling and focus needed, I think. I do admit I have been getting waves of panic and struggling at the enormity but have been trying to just actively focus on the moment and trying to do a whole load of planning.
We have pretty much got ideas for two of the filmclips, Rosewood and Pot of Honey but are still figuring out the filmclip for Holy Water. We are open to any suggestions, so if you feel inspired, please share.
It is also a steep learning curve for me as most of my camera and filming knowledge is self taught, so feeling a bit nervous and pressured and excited. I am scouring the internet trying to get some online tutorials and tips whilst also just playing around with my camera a bit more.Which really is all great and wonderful and exciting, just a little overwhelming. Deep breaths.
Above is one of the promo shots, it will need to be reshot with a few alterations but we are all happy with the concept and the look of it and below is the cabin that we found out at Kalang where we will be filming the Pot of Honey filmclip.

In the meantime we farewelled Summer with a beautifully warm and humid day (oh yeah we got a lot of washing and airing done on that day, believe you me) and embraced the beginning of Autumn with a sighting of yellow leaves, an afternoon with some amazing friends snacking on vegetarian 'sausage' rolls, stonefruit crumble and listening to songs from 2012, whilst still enjoying the pitter patter of more rain on our tarp and roof, it all felt very cozy and wonderful. Summer was wonderful but we are ready for the changes that Autumn brings.

I have been a bit obsessed by this beautifully sad clip. Oh my goodness.
