few words

I'm not saying much, there is no need, this is where Poe, Ilo and sometimes Lara (our little next door friend) spend some of their time, out the back of our place, a perfect little reserve for biking, ukelele playing, exploring and crystal mining.

We had a special back to school dinner at Mouza, a great indian/lebanese place up the road, it was lovely, absolutely delicious and yes, very special. I remember similar special dinners when I was growing up, the dinners were largely centered around school and birthdays and we always had such a reverence for them, from a young age right through our teenage years. They were always different from other dinners out, we got dressed up, we would have different kinds of conversations and it always felt so wonderful, so sacred and such a special thing for our family.

  3. that is a lovely tradition, it is one I have been thinking about starting with our boys too. Pete and my wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and we will get to spend time for ourselves soon, but the actual anniversary is on a tuesday so I thought that would be a good night to share a special dinner with our two favorite little people who of course remind us daily that at age 3 and 6 they are "big boys now" ;) x

  5. I always loved those special dinners – I remember the very first one, I was 10 and we were moving house. They always revolved around change, school, an achievement, travel (if someone was going away on a trip) or occasionally birthdays (although we mainly had birthday dinners at home).

I must remember to carry on that tradition, thank you for the reminder.
